Supporting our students through COVID-19

2020 has certainly been a year unlike any other across the world, and indeed at St Thomas More College and here, Head of College, Mr Tom Mitchell talks about how life at Tommy More has changed this year, and what the response has been like.

Tommy More has remained open this year, with a large number of students opting to remain on campus, whilst some students returned home to be with their families.

Mental health, as well as student connection remained a priority, as students received access to initiatives that included online yoga classes, Zoom fitness challenges, mental health workshops, as well as increased academic support.

St Thomas More College is now looking forward to a busy Semester 2 social calendar to make up for lost time in Semester 1, and rooms are filling fast for 2021 already.

Inhouse yoga, emotional health workshop, fitness challenges and more to help students manage their anxiety and remain fit and healthy.

Ensuring there were still many touch points and avenues for connection within the College and that students who temporarily returned home were still included within College life.

Academic Support

Ensuring students still have access to tutoring and other academic support where needed.

Health and Safety

Regular (sometimes daily) email updates to students, along with signage and disinfectant of public spaces (that were still permitted to open) three times per day. Significant shifts in catering procedures for student safety.

Applications now open for Semester 2 and 2021
