Life at Tommy offers more.
First-Class Facilities
Our modern facilities are some of the best in the country. We have a fantastic Recreation Centre that is available 24/7 for all residents with a pool table, Ping-Pong table and Foxtel with a nice area just to chill out and catch up with your mates. The student tuckshop known as “the tucky” is also available in this space on specific nights.
We have a Graduate Lounge on the mezzanine level of the dining room that allows our senior students and graduates a place of their own. With a large television with Foxtel, it is a popular place to watch the weekend’s football action with other senior students or to kick back with mates after a gruelling day of lectures.
Our new facilities also include nine separate common spaces that have TV’s and comfy lounges for those residents who are residing on those particular floors. We have two dedicated group study rooms and two academic resource centres, a print room, two bike storage areas that include four surf skis that our residents can borrow to take over to the river, two new laundries, wonderful new amenities attached to our dining room and alfresco area, a seminar room in the main administration reception area and a kitchenette/dining area that students can use to host small dinner parties and gatherings.
Delicious Meals
Our dedicated Chartwells catering team provides residents with a wide range of healthy options three times a day, seven days a week, throughout the academic year.
There is always a selection of hot food for lunch and dinner, as well as an amazing salad bar and vegetarian/vegan options. Our Catering committee, which includes a number of student representatives, meets regularly and offers feedback on behalf of our residents, helping us to remain in touch with what students expect and enjoy.
Our award-winning team are more like part of the family and loves chatting with our residents about their favourite meals from home. They are always happy for you to make suggestions and get excited when we have a formal dinner so that they can showcase their talents.
Next Level Social Calendar
The College organises a number of events throughout the year, including Orientation; and a series of formal dinners, including our ever-popular International Dinner, Commencement and Valedictory Dinners and our Christmas in July Celebration.
Residents play a major part in organising their own social activities through the Student Club, whose executives are elected by the whole student body. They put together sporting events, excursions and major social events such as the annual College Ball.
Hardly a week goes by during term time without an event of some kind in or around the College, from the Cafe Crawl, through to the River Cruise or the Fringe Fest on the lawn. Regular Student Club meetings ensure that everyone’s voice is heard during the planning stages, and if there’s an event that you want to see organised, then you only have to put your hand up!
